I was taught this technique on how to catch 60 – 70 pound Bass Off of the beach, by my Father-in-Law who fished up into his eighties. He would catch Bass when the other fishermen on the beach were hardly getting bites. To catch big Bass off the coast, you must first start off by using #10 test line. at least 200 yards. Then you will have to dig up fresh sand crabs. It is important that you crack the shell, then run a hook through the sand crab. Cast the line out as far as you can. Once you get a bite, set the drag with a light drag. Allow the bass to take the line out, reeling in as the bass allows you to. The whole time you are allowing the Bass to tire as he has to fight the drag. This is where most in-experience fisherman loose their fish. You really have to be patient at this point and let the bass tire himself out. The object here is to completely tire the Bass out and then easily bring him in rather than try to muscle him in. To catch 60-70 pound Bass, you will have to play the Bass for two to three hours to bring him in. Once you perfect this technique, you will find yourself catching the Big one while others near by will not.
